Food Pantry
Top of Page
Every month our church helps to feed between 60 - 100 individuals in our community. On Thursdays, people needing additional food come to our church to receive staple food items in grocery sacks. We are able to give away this food, free of charge, because of the generosity of our church members. Some of the food is donated directly to the Pantry, and some purchased with funds from the Deacon board. Other items come from the local food bank. Together we are able to supplement the meals of people in need.
The Food Pantry is open every Thursday from 9:30-10:30 A.M. Food Pantry recipients need to call in for an order before 3:00 P.M. on the Wednesday before their pick-up date.
Back to TopOur Facilities
The KHBC church building is not only historic, it's pretty big, and we're more than happy to share it with the community at large. From Fall through the Spring we host monthly Bible Quizzing competitions facilitated locally by Midland Ministries. Each year hundreds of young people from all over Missouri and surrounding states gather to compete. The Southside Business Women, the St. Joseph Home School Group, and other organizations and individuals enjoy the use of our facilities, too. Feel free to contact us if you'd like to learn about our building use policies for your public or private event.
Back to TopAngel Tree/Operation Christmas Child
Love kids? Enjoy Christmas? So do we! Every year KHBC sends Christmas presents to children whose parents are in jail through Prison Fellowship's Angel Tree program. We also send shoeboxes filled with school supplies, personal care items, treats and the story of Jesus to underprivileged children around the world by way of Operation Christmas Child.
Back to TopSouthside Fall Festival
And what's not to love about a parade? We usually have a float in the Southside Fall Festival parade every year, and give away hotdogs and pop, too!
Back to TopWalk America
Every Spring we support the March of Dimes in "Walk America" here in St. Joe by hosting a checkpoint to provide refreshments for the participants. The MoD raises funds for research in the fight against childhood birth defects.
Back to TopAdopt-A-Highway
As part of our commitment to be good stewards of the environment and our community, KHBC has been participating in Missouri's "Adopt-a-Highway" program for over a decade. Once a quarter volunteers from our church clean up trash and debris from a section of HWY 752.
Back to TopParish Nurse Program
We have nurse volunteer here to help our church community! The goal of the parish nurse program is to contribute to the overall health of the church by aiding in the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual growth of its members. This may be as simple as regular blood pressure checkups, providing rides to a doctor's appointment, or a sympathetic ear to listen to your problems. KHBC's parish nurse is ready to assist you!
